Wow Day – Our Sewing Project

Welcome back to Year 3 after the Easter break! To start our new term, we had our Summer 1 Wow Day.

We continued with our Belper topic and we made the buildings of Belper by sewing them!

The children had a great time and as you can see in the photos, they were really concentrating!

Class Trip to Belper Mills

We have had an amazing time on our class trip to the Belper Mills.

First we went on a tour of Belper to look at the buildings and find out more information about the Strutt family.

We then went to the mill where we got to see the machines and learn more about what it would have been like to work there!

Wow Day – Making Belper

For our Spring 2 Wow day, we used our D&T skills to design and make the whole of Belper!

The children used cardboard boxes to create their own buildings. They love working in teams to make each model.

Then, we went to the hall with our finished models and created a long strip with the whole of Belper proudly displayed.

You will find these outside our classroom if you would like to have a closer look.

Wow! What a fantastic start to the Spring Term we have had in Year 3.

This half term we are learning about Ancient Egyptians. We started our topic with our Wow Day, where we made: paper mache death masks; card pyramids;

lego pyramids; painted scarab beetles on pebbles and wrote our names in hieroglyphics. The children had a wonderful time and it really kicked off the topic!
