Question 6
How are the teachers in school helped to work with children with SEND, and what training do teachers have?
The SENCo’s job is to support the class teacher in planning for children with SEN. The class teacher, teaching assistants and SENCo meet three times a year to review pupil needs and to support staff in delivering well matched interventions.
The school provides training and support to enable all staff to improve the teaching and learning of children, including those with SEN. This includes both whole school training on SEN issues and individual teachers and support staff attend training courses run by outside agencies that are relevant to the needs of specific children in their class. Close partnership with these outside agencies allows access to support regarding specific needs on an individual basis.
